ロイズ・アンティークスの英国法人NARのジェームスです。 おなじみのドローリーフテーブルの魅力をお伝えします。 ドローリーフテーブルは、元々は16世紀頃のエリザベス朝に発明されたものです。20世紀初頭にイギリスで復活し、人気を博しました。そのデザインから、2人から6人が楽に座れる汎用性の高いダイニングテーブルとなっています。

The draw leaf table was invented originally in Elizabethan times around the 16th century. They were revived and very popular in Britain at the beginning of the 20th century. Because of their design they are very a versatile dining table, seating between 2 and 6 people with ease.

マホガニーやウォールナットのものもありますが、私の個人的なお気に入りはオーク材のドローリーフテーブルです。どのようなダイニングシーンにも合うとても実用的なテーブルだと思います。 私たちはオリジナルの状態のテーブルを買い付け、修復します。それも大切に扱われてきまたものですが、100年を経っているため、丁寧に手を加える必要があります。木工の修復後のテーブルは、1920年や1930年をのオリジナルのテーブルと同じようにしっかりとしています。

My personal favourite is made from oak although they can be found in mahogany and walnut. In England we find them very practical for all dining occasions. We buy the tables in original condition and although they have been treated with care they are often in need of repair because of their almost 100 year old age. After joinery the tables are solid and as good as the original tables from 1920 & 1930.

We then remove the old polish and using the same technique used originally we restore the piece to its former condition.

There are many styles of this table including 4 leg, 2 leg, barley twist, turned and straight leg. The table shown is a pedestal turned legged solid top table and would be identical in every way from the original manufacture.
